The Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE) has awarded our very own Mary Button the Dr. Guylene Proulx Scholarship for outstanding scholarship in the field of human behaviour. Mary is completing her degree at Glasgow Caledonian University while working with DFC, and her research focuses on more accessible and inclusive evacuation procedures in high-rise residential buildings.
Mary was awarded the scholarship last month during the 2020 SFPE Virtual Annual Conference.
The award honours the legacy of Dr. Guylène Proulx. Dr. Proulx was an outstanding researcher in human factors and human behaviour related to fire. For that research, she has received international acclaim from the fire safety community. This scholarship honours her legacy by building on the research in her chosen field. Dr. Proulx has, literally, changed the world through her work.
Well done Mary! We can see you are deservedly proud of your award.
