Project Description
Spire Nottingham is a new two-storey hospital for leading independent hospital group, Spire Healthcare. The hospital comprises 56 beds and will include a large outpatient area with 20 consulting rooms, an oncology suite, a six bedded critical care unit and a fixed MRI and CT facility.
As with all hospital buildings, the fire strategy required close collaboration with all members of the design team to ensure that appropriate fire safety measures are incorporated within the building. Spire Nottingham presented specific challenges including the incorporation of an open atrium, with café and seating areas, used as a means of escape. In addition, the exclusion of evacuation lifts from the building required close communication with Spire Healthcare and the approving authorities to produce a basis for appropriate evacuation management.
