Saskia joined Design Fire Consultants in September 2019, while currently studying towards her Master’s Degree in Fire Engineering at the University of Central Lancashire. While at DFC, Saskia completed the BEng component of her degree with flying colours.
Having worked in a Commercial Support position at a large Engineering and Fire testing firm for several years prior, focusing primarily on contract negotiation and business support, Saskia ultimately aspired to move into the Fire Engineering discipline nearing the end of her studies. In between performing her administrative responsibilities, Saskia sought to assist senior engineers in many national and international fire engineering projects, to gain as much experience as she possibly could.
At university, Saskia thrived in her science and maths modules, taking a specific interest in Enclosure Fire Dynamics – the detailed analysis of physics of compartment fires – and Problematic Risk Assessment; she is currently preparing her dissertation, with a particular focus on the performance of physical phenomena of timber under fire conditions.
Saskia’s move to Design Fire Consultants meant that she could pursue her passion for fire safety engineering and focus fully on further developing her knowledge and expertise.
