We are very proud that our very own Neal Butterworth co-authored an award-winning paper with Angus Law of the University of Edinburgh. The Institution of Civil Engineers awarded the paper the Health and Safety Award.
Neal and Angus discuss the ban on combustible cladding that was implemented following the Grenfell Tower fire, aka. “Regulation 7”. Some of the benefits of this regulatory approach are highlighted along with the resultant administrative absurdities and the risk that this approach to fire regulation may lead to a “never-ending game of whack-a-mole”.
Here at DFC our dedication to fire safety extends past our day-to-day business of consulting. As an active part of the industry, we encourage our staff to be on the cutting edge. We are very proud that our members of staff actively contribute to development of British Standards, sit on several committees of the Institution of Fire Engineers, and collaborate with leading research institutions. We can better serve our clients by keeping our finger on the pulse of the wider issues the industry faces.
