Matthew joined Design Fire Consultants in August 2019. He holds an MEng (Hons) from the University of Durham, an MEng (Fire Safety) from the University of Western Sydney, an MBA from Tsinghua University, and a Post Graduate Certificate in Chemical Engineering from Curtin University.
Starting his career in Australia in 2010, he was based first in Melbourne and then Perth. During that time, he worked on a range of Australian and international projects, including projects in every state of Australia, and international projects in Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, India, Papa New Guinea, and Qatar. While working in Australia he gained Chartered Professional Engineer status and has also been admitted to the National Engineers Register, and to the state registers in Victoria, Queensland and New South Wales. He also served on the committee of the Society of Fire Safety’s Western Australia branch.
His international background allows him to see what might be considered conventional approaches in the UK and creatively contribute to the design process. Matthew particularly enjoyed working on Singapore Changi Airport, over 20 Bunnings stores, as well as numerous bespoke small-scale projects in Australia that demanded an individual and creative approach.
