Matt Whitehead
Senior Engineer
Matt joined Design Fire Consultants in October 2017.
In 2012 he graduated from the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) with a Foundation Degree in Building Services and Sustainable Engineering. In 2020 he graduated from UCLan with a master’s in Fire Engineering. His research for both his bachelor’s and master’s dissertation were based around the fire performance of combustible insulation in aluminium composite panels and CFD analysis of flame propagation in cavity walls.
Matt has over 6 years experience in fire safety engineering and also brings with him over 13 years contracting experience, working in electrical installation and in a technical role as a fire detection and alarm specialist including the maintenance, installation, commissioning, design and project management of large complex fire safety systems.
He has experience working in a wide range of sectors including Healthcare, Residential, Office, Commercial, Stadia, Transportation and Rail, applying various design codes in the UK, Middle East and Africa. He also has experience of providing support throughout construction to ensure the fire strategy requirements for the building are implemented upon handover.
He has led a number of large Healthcare schemes as the technical lead in the development of complex fire detection cause and effect strategies.
