Project Description
VITA Nottingham is a 10 storey 300+ bed student accommodation building.
With a central location and bounded by the canal, tramline, Grade II listed station building and the famous Hopkinson Antiques, efficiency in the use of space was key. This led to a single stair strategy that was more akin to a block of flats, as opposed to the commonly adopted hotel or student cluster strategies typical of these types of buildings. This required a close working relationship with the operator to make sure that the strategy met their needs.
DFC provided services from RIBA Stage 2 to RIBA Stage 6, from workshopping with the design team at Stage 2 and developing the strategy, all the way to witnessing and helping to troubleshoot the cause and effect at project completion.
