Project Description
First Street is a large scale multi building development in Manchester city centre, with DFC staff having been involved in the redevelopment for many years. Currently DFC are undertaking the fire safety design on ‘Square Gardens’ (previously known as No. 11 First Street) which will provide over 1,772 apartments. Our client recognise the value that DFC can provide through historic project knowledge and representation on British Standard Committees.
Core rationalisation resulted in 3 stairs being removed from the scheme through early design. The consequent extended travel distances have been enabled through quantified fire engineering analysis. An additional 20 apartments are provided as a direct consequence of DFC’s input creating real value for the scheme. Modern open plan living is achieved, so no more internal corridors in apartments.
