Charles opened the DFC London office in November 2017. He is a Chartered Fire Engineer with significant experience in large mixed-use projects. His approach to fire safety emphasises providing options and engaging stakeholders – thereby allowing flexibility in design.
He has particular experience with London based projects, and has built a strong working relationship with the local authorities and the London Fire Brigade. Having lived in multiple countries, he speaks fluent French and Italian and has used this on projects in Morocco, Monaco, and Italy. He was previously based in the Madrid and London offices of a major multidisciplinary design firm.
Charles has project managed and developed integrated fire strategies for major developments from concept stage to handover, including the redevelopment of the BBC Television Centre in White City, multiple schemes on the Canary Wharf site, and the Design Museum.
He has also worked on improving and delivering best in class fire strategies for existing conference and shopping centres, to maximise the building’s commercial potential and ensure compliance with the regulatory standards.
