Andrew joined DFC in March 2021. He has a fire and chemical engineering background. He graduated with an MSc in Fire Safety Engineering at the University of Central Lancashire (with Distinction) and before that he studied a BEng in Chemical Engineering at the University of Hull (1st Class Honours).
Andrew developed his interest in Fire Engineering working as a Graduate Fire Engineer in Manchester, primarily focusing on producing residential fire strategies. He has also gained site experience analysing the Nitrogen Distribution System on a top tier COMAH site in Ellesmere Port.
During his MSc, Andrew undertook a dissertation researching how the toxicity of smoke produced from enflamed insulation materials varies with combustibility classifications and why these materials were used in the UK. Producing the dissertation helped Andrew gain a valuable insight into various fire testing methodologies.
