Senior Engineer - London

DFC is seeking a Senior Engineer to join our London team. The role will include day-to-day project engineering, financial and project management, and the opportunity to mentor and supervise more junior team members at the team grows.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for and should demonstrate experience in:

  • Technical delivery of projects in their entirety, subject to internal approval at key stages.
  • Experience in being responsible for all technical background and support to their technical solutions.
  • Identification of a specialist area and responsible for technical development in this area.
  • Developing project programs and resource plans and managing against plans.
  • Proactive in company improvement initiatives.
  • Attendance of DTMs. Attendance and chairing of BCO meetings on projects. Attendance at client meetings as a substitute.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively at all levels.
  • Understanding of design guidance, regulations, ethics and codes of conduct.
  • Development of an individual client base.
  • The ability to define project fees through an understanding of RIBA stages, resource requirements and client value.
  • Proactively worked towards at least 50% CEng recorded or CEng fully submitted.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for and should demonstrate experience in:

  • Conducting a series of technical tasks within a package of work to deliver components of projects.
  • Proactively supporting design coordination on projects to allow project progression, with minimal guidance.
  • An understanding of the CEng process and the ability to identify requirements.
  • Proactive research of the areas necessary to compliment understanding and fill knowledge gaps.
  • The ability to estimate the time required to complete tasks and take responsibility for their own time management.
  • Understanding of resourcing requirements and feed into workload meetings.
  • Ability to identify review requirements and time required by reviewers (upward management).
  • Identification of opportunities for company improvement.
  • Attendance at DTM meetings as a substitute/delegate.
  • The ability to successfully voice own opinions, debate and negotiate. Be able to defend own work, and take constructive feedback.
  • Provide support to Graduates and peers.
  • Have foresight into career progression, consideration of areas of expertise and enthusiasm to succeed.
  • Professionalism and company care/pride.
  • Be aware of the impact of their own work/review requirements on others.
