Project Description
100 Embankment is one of two office buildings above a multi-storey car park and podium in Manchester’s burgeoning Greengate district. It is a 9-storey office building with a central core and large floor plates. The fire engineering challenge is to enable a building that is simultaneously optimised and flexible. DFC has developed an efficient core layout where the number and width of escape stairs is minimised, but one which also allows multiple tenancy split arrangements. This has required careful consideration of the routes into the core and a strategy that allows for extended travel distances. In addition, DFC will be conducting structural fire engineering assessments to help optimise the structural steel and fire protection solutions to ensure a high standard of safety at minimum cost.
